Kitty Post

I need a fluffy post!

This is Susano. He is the first kitten we adopted after we married. For the first few months after we brought him home, he was a cuddler. He wanted to be on someone’s lap, anyone!, all the time. Then he started terrorizing the house and picking on us. That cat has sharp claws. He has a twitch on one side of his face and the vet couldn’t diagnose what was wrong. I think it makes him a bit mean sometimes.

We adopted another cat, older and bigger, who could possibly put Susano in his place. Fiona seemed like a good candidate for that but she’s really laid back and didn’t help Susano’s behavior. Finally, Susano grew out of his terror stage and then he was just hands off.

Recently, Susano started being clingy again. When we sit at our computers, he walks over, stretches toward us, and digs his claws into our leg. That’s how he lets us know that he wants picked up and put on our laps. Yesterday, I was kneeling on my office chair talking to my hubby. Susano decided he wanted to curl up on me. I didn’t move, curious about what he would do. He curled up on the back of my legs! Silly kitten…

Weather, kitty update, and to do list

I can’t believe how quickly it has cooled down. Just two weeks ago, it was reaching 105 degrees by afternoon. Today, my windows and doors are all open, a cool breeze is blowing into the apartment, and I’m actually a little chilly. Our highs are now around 85 degrees, which is starting to get chilly for Arizona. I’ve lived in Arizona for 10 years and I’ve acclimated fairly well. While I won’t complain about temperatures in the 70s, I will be wearing jeans and possibly a long sleeve shirt!

My kitty seems to be feeling better. Hubby saw him eating breakfast and he’s a bit more feisty. Hubby also caught Bruno and Susano on the counter early this morning eating one of my houseplants. Bad kitties!

I’ve neglected my six most important things list. I’m not sure why I stopped but not writing the list lowers my productivity levels. So today I decided to post my six most important things on my blog and see how much I can accomplish.

Preparation Friday:
Dishes
Wash and dry the sheets; remake the bed
Vacuum
Sweep floors in kitchen and bathrooms
Clean kitty litter boxes
Clean toilet and bathroom sink

Sick kitty

I think my kitty might be sick. He’s been lethargic all day and hasn’t eaten much. I’m giving him all the attention he wants and letting him sleep as much as possible. Poor baby.

I’ve never felt so close to a cat before. Hubby and I both raised him but Bruno connected with me. He follows me around every day, freaks out when I leave home for more than a few hours, and insists on staying by my side. He’s never that far away. I must have been the first thing he saw when his eyes finally opened and he’s never let go of me since. It hurts to watch him not feel well. Hopefully he’s feeling like himself tomorrow.

Animal pics

For some reason, I just feel like posting pics today. Last week, I was planning on writing a long post about our weekend at my brother’s house but life interfered. Instead, I’ll just post some recent pics that I took here at our house and some in Sierra Vista.

Laying on the top shelf is Susano; on the bottom shelf is Fiona. It is rare to capture a picture of the two of them together as they don’t like each other much.

Our cats are so spoiled. One day we decided to place Susano in the window above our shower. Usually he lays so that he’s facing outside, but occasionally he likes to turn around and watch whoever is in the shower. After we’re done showering, we leave him up in the window until the bathroom starts getting hot from our ridiculously hot summers or until he meows that he’s ready to come down.

These two are attached at the hip and love laying on my desk, whenever there is enough room. Bruno is our baby, the kitten we raised by hand last year. He was only a day old when he came into our house and Susano has been parenting him ever since.

Seeing this rattlesnake was one of the highlights of my weekend with my brother. I had never seen a live one in the wild before. We had just finished doing some offroading in Josh’s 4×4 and were driving along the dirt road back to his house. All of a sudden, we spotted a long snake traveling across the road. I’m sure we barely missed it with the tires. We stopped and ran back to look, just as he slithered into the brush at the side of the road. Josh identified it as a rattlesnake before I did and our suspicions were confirmed when he curled up and starting shaking his rattles at us. Hurray for zoom on cameras!

I recently spotted this dragonfly resting outside my kitchen window. I was washing dishes and feeling a little down when he flew by and landed on a bush. I snuck outside with my camera and managed to get a half decent shot. He stuck around for a few hours before flying off again. I love the deep orange color.

This little guy graces me with his presence every couple of days. There is a tall bush outside the kitchen and he lands on one of the branches sticking out the side of the bush. He’ll sit there for several hours at a time, usually during the hottest part of the day and just look around or groom himself. Until he started visiting, I had never seen a hummingbird sit so still for so long. I hope he keeps coming back.

Someday I’ll own a camera that allows me to zoom in and focus on hummingbirds without producing grainy photographs. 🙂 Until then, I’ll just continue to enjoy all the animals God sends my way.

Kitty pictures!

I have a lot of thoughts but no words. I’ve been thinking of faith vs. works, the role of the Holy Spirit in our lives, what really matters in life, how much (or how little) you can put your faith in church denominations or organizations, and the belief of the inerrancy of Scripture. Unfortunately, I have no complete thoughts at this time.

Therefore, I bring you… kitty pictures! This is my Bruno. I’ve been taking care of him since he was one day old, abandoned by his feral mommy. My husband and I nursed this kitty from day one, and took care of all the other unpleasant mama duties that go along with that (did you know that you have to wipe a kitty’s behind until they are old enough to go potty on their own?).

Because I am his mama, Bruno is attached to me. Very. He’s about 8 months old now, but he still follows me around. When I take a shower, Bruno takes a shower. He climbs in the tub with me, as long as I don’t let him get wet. And when I’m working at my desk, he sleeps on my mouse and usually rests his head on my keyboard. My baby is extremely clingy.

Gotta love him!
