Meet Ming Ming, the newest member of the family

This is Ming Ming.

He’s my baby avocado tree. He goes outside for 15 minutes of sun every day.

Unfortunately, Ming Ming is about to get pruned. When he’s six inches tall again, he’ll be planted in soil! I’m sad about pruning him as he’s going to be losing all of his leaves. Poor Ming Ming…

  1. Is that how you do it? By pruning? I have tried and tried to grow these but they only keep getting taller and taller with no side branches at all.

  2. We have a 25 foot tree in our yard which one of the apartment dwellers grew from an avocado stone. She didn't prune or anything and it is huge – but not exactly fruitful.

  3. I am rather envious at your ability to grow an avocado at all. I have tried starting more than I can count, but always end up with a moldy stone in a dish of water (Gross!)

    It looks quite nice 🙂

  4. hahaha!!! I am greatly amused.

    And what Bekah said.
